thin district of the IndiaimpolL conference, was a passenger. Mr. Talbott, was, it will be remembered, in the wreck of train No. "JO at Coatsville a year ago this month. Mr. Talbott escaped this time without a scratch. The wrecks form a coincidence as they were twin trains ami the disasters occurred within siiuiar weeks a year apart. This morning the police sent an old man to Greencastle who came here Monday and some money on his person soon parted with it. He was stirred into Hill Bennetts dive down by the Monon and Anna Bennett took him in charge. She toyed with the old mans flowing beard and touched him for ten dollars for two kisses. Then sin* gave him back the ten and lie gave her a twenty dollar bill receiving in return two hugs. They came high hut he insisted on having them. This is not tiie ruling price by the way, or a man would go broke. The old fool and his money soon parted and Annie put it in circulation at once by replenishing her house. —CrawforthviUe Anjux Ntws. We ask the readers of the BanxkkTimks to patronize those w hose advertisements are found in this paper. By these advertisements you know they have something to sell, something they are not ashamed of. They politely invite you to come and inspect tbeirgoods, which means tnat the goods are of good (piality and up to date in pattern and style. This assures you that they are live business men mid that they are not compelled to and do not keep a lot of out of date goods on hands. There is one tiling sure, you will not make a mistake if you go to the places advertised in tlie Haknkk-Timks. The fact that they are found in this paper is evidence that they have something worth advertising, and that they are not ashamed to ask you to come and make an inspection of their goods and prices. The congregational meeting last night at the Christian church was largely at tended and the reports submitted were very gratifying. Aside from the building fund the church ami the various societies raised and expended last year $2347.60. A portion of this money was used in furnishing the new house of worship. The membership now iiuui hers about five hundred. It was voted to arrange in the near future for v. lecture by Judge McNutt, of Terre Haute. It was also decided, in the midst of the greatest enthusiasm, to accept Evangelist Boyer’s proposition to deliver ids lecture at an early day. The dates will

be announced soon.

Don’t ask an editor to suppress an item of news. Some other paper will get it any way. The next week something may happen to y<yir neighbor and if lie ask to have it suppressed, you will he the tirst man to j.inip on the editor for daring to say his soul was his own. Eight Ottlces This Time.

A number of people think that the struggle in November merely means the election of a commissioner, a treasurer, a clerk and a representative. The county ticket this year will contain eight names us follows: Two commissioners, representative, treasurer, sherifT, assessor, surveyor and coroner. That is a pretty good batch to light over and the game is worth the
