What, it Not Miracles: Th«* greai K<*ur-C Keuiedy i» doiriK work wherever in trod iioed as nearly miraculous as it ever falls to the lot of any bummi affencv to do (we will esteem it a favor for any one interested to write the persons w hose names appear below or any one whose name may appeal among these testimonials.) There is actually more FORCE and “GET Til ERE” properties in a bottle of Four-C than in a gallon of ordinary cough medicine. “In compounding it I have fallowed in no “ruts" or used the prescription of no Dr. So-and-So of Amsterdam or Loudon, or any other pl“*ce. 1 owe its composition to no onk in no sinui k parti m i.AR. Neither is it made of herbs and roots dug in the dark of the moon in the jingles of Africa or South A mcrica. The demand for the Coi iiH, Coi n and Croi'p IT hk. and its wonkkhfi i rccckas has been ki.kctricai.. Nothing in tlie whole history of cough and cold medicines can compare with it. No disease of the lungs seems able to resist its curative properties, as is well proven by the numerous cases of La Grippe Cured, Croup Cured, ion«ilitis Cured, I’heumonia Cured, Bronchitis Cureii, Consumptives greatest help if not cure. Dry, Hacking, Harsh Coughs of weeks' and months’ standing cured w ith from one to three doses. Our aim is to convince the public of my sincerity and of the true merits
of this remedy.

The entertainment will be of high character and all will be well paid who attend. Recitations, comic and sentimental songs and instrumental music will constitute the program. A number of young ladies of the university have asked permission to usher during the evening. The concert occurs after the semester examinations and there is no reason why the hall should not be filled. Let the boys remember that the young ladies desire to attend this entertainment. The judges on delivery for the oratorical contest are as follows: The Rev. Coultas, of Indianapolis, attorney Roycc, of Terre Haute, and Prof. Stalker, ot the Indiana State Normal. Mr. Wiseman, who has been out of school some time, will return the second semester. Prof. Ayers will examine his | solid geometry class Saturday afternoon. We are in receipt of an anonymous letter giving ns advice as to what course to pursue in regard to a matter which never entered our mind. Please sign name next time. Your handwriting is very intniliar, however. The oratorical which w.ll he held in Meharry hall next Friday evening, will begin at 7:30. Please bear this in mind. Come early and avoid confusion. A first year class in French will be organized next semester. All wishing to j in the beg : nnine: class should report at 10 o’clock the first day of next semester in Miss Weaver's room. The life of this reporter is threatened almost every day. Give us the news. Have yon procured tickets for the oratorical; it not you had better do so at once, as tue best seats are going fast. **E Plnribns ITuum** on Our Coins. According to the United States mint officials, the words,“E Plnribns Uuum,” as they appear on onr coins, are there without the sanction of law. The legend first appeared upon a copper coin "struck" at the Newburg (N. Y.) mint in the year 17bfl. The Uuited States was very young at that time and could not afford the luxury of a mint, so a private individual of the name of Brasher opened the Newburg coining establishment with the intention of turni ing out money of the realm for all comers. Exactly ho\y the words "E Pluribus Unum” camtf to be used as a motto is ik.c known, but one thing is certain, the Brasher copper coin bearing that legend and the date of 178(1 is the most valuable metal disk ever minted on this continent, being worth about $2,000, or twice as much as the famous rare dollar of 1804. Some time after coining his famous copper with the odd Latin motto t.s above described Brasher tried his hand on a large sized goldpiece, producing the coin known to the numismatist^! tu I "Brasher’a twenty.” The Brasher "twenty" was not a $20 goldpiece, however, for it lacked $4 of weighing enough, but of late years it has become very scarce and valuable because of the fact that the legend inscribed upon it reads "Unum E Pluribus’’ instead of | "E Pluribus Unum. ’’ This coin is now valued at $1,500.—St. Louis Republic.

lEonitnte nncl Oomtne. Difforeuces that seem very slight in foreign or provincial words may be very real, and it is important to know and to note them. An eminent New York scholar calls attention, in this line, to an erroneous use of the word “dominie” for “doniine" by a recent contributor to The Sunday School Times. He says: "The terms ‘dominie’ and ’demine* both are plainly derived from the Latin, but do not mean the same thing. The former is a Scottish usage for schoolmaster only, aud is universally known because of ’Dominie Sampson’ in one of the Waverley novels. The latter is a Hnllandish, respectful designation for it minister of the gospel only. It is used very generally in the Dutch churches ip. ibis country, but always iu a reverent and, indeed, affectionate sense. It ajipears to me that the two terms should not be confounded, but invariably confined to that application which is required by their historio origin.” This distinction is not generally known, although the dictionaries point it out.—Sunday School Times.

The Canted Tower of the Rhone. The cursed tower is an architectural curiosity. It is almost us far out from the perpendicular as is the tower at Pisa and is far more impressive, because it stands upon an isolated crag which drops below it sheer to the river in a vast precipice. Anciently, before it went wrong and its curse came upon it, the tower was the keep of the Benedictine nunnery of Soyous. Most ungallantly, in the year 150(1, the Huguenots captured the abbey by assault, and thereupon the abbess, Louise d’Amauze (poor frightened roul!) hurriedly embraced the reformed religion, in dread lest, without this concession to the rather decided opinions of the conquerors, still worse might come. Several of her nuns followed her hastily heterodox example, but the mass of them stood stoutly by their faith and ended by making off with it intact to Valence.—Thomas A.
Janvier in Century.
Op|(OM*(i to DaiiKProtiH InnoTatlonih The other day a proposal was made at n parish meeting for the lighting of the village of Godshill, isle of Wight, with eight lumps, which, it seemed, could ho maintained at the modest cost of a halfpenny lato once every three years. Up rose a farmer named Hollis to oppose the revolutionary scheme. To the mind of this worthy man its authors were "wanting to turn night into day." "It would set a bad example to the young,” he continued, "keeping them ont all hours of the night. What they ought to do was to set a good example by going to bed early aud getting up early, and he would like to hear the curfew rung again."—London Truth.
