Buookville, Ind., Jan. 12 — Uharles F. Goodwin died today of apploplexy. He was sitting in it s •'bait at his home, reading, when he fell to the floor. When the phys ciun arrived he found Mr. Good win dead. His death is a great shock to'the community. He was in his regular place at cliun h this morning and had done nothing whatever to attract the attention of his family to anything Junusual concerning his health. During the past week he had attended a meeting of the trustees of DePauw uni versify at Greencastle, of which body he was a member. He was an acknowledged leader among litis mess men of the county, otheis seeking his advice in all lines of trade. He was horn Nov. G, 1849. He w as the son of John B. and Hu ehel Good win. He graduated from Ashttry university in 1871, amt married Martha Shirk in November, U7f. He was assistant cashier of the Brookville National Bank from 1872 to 1879, when his father an i he bought up the stock and eon ducted it as a private bank (ill hts father’s dentil in 1880. After hts father’s death he assumed full <• i trol and conducted it until Jan , 1831,. when he formed a partner shi,) with his brother in law, J. (J Shirk. Since then the hank has been conducted under the firm name of Goodwin A; Shirk. Mary Goodwin is at present a stu dent of DePauw university, and John Goodwin, his son. is in school j here. His mother also survives him and lives with him.
