Typhoid i i now admitted by all acien* tiats lo be caused by s venom microbe that swam: - by the million in the tissues f>f the small iutestines, producing fever, delirium, e-treme prostration, putrifaction and dc..th. The medical profession has eatuesily sought a reliable antidote for thi rr. rtal plague aud found none. Hence it is a bold, an almost startling claim, (a claim never before dared to be made for any remedy,) that Brazilian Balm, alone, will positively cure Typhoid

Just on the eve of a republican mass convention it is well for the people to know just why the repub licans are so confident of carrying

1/ TYPHOID aiC-'LLl’S. Fever in any stage. This great discovery was the result of n woman’s faith. Mr*. L. B. Uradway, of Wilmington, Del., believed the Balm would do almost anything. Hence she gave it in 6 drop doses, every three to five minutes, to a young lady in the last stage of Typhoid, blie had been given up by the doctor, who said she could not live half an hour. To the surprise of all she quick*y revived and recovered. Since then it has been used by laymen, nurses and physicians with uniform success. How it cures was then a mystery; but it is now fully settled that it promptly destroys every Typhoid bacillus in the system. It staunches the hemorrhage, heals the whole alimentary track, and, instead of the slow, tedious convalescence, rertores to health and strength with surprising rapidity. In short, it fills every condition cf a perfect antidote fer Typhoid. Treat>.tent: Give 10 drops every 15 minutes while the fever rages, and once an hour when the fever is off, und gilt nothing else. During convalescence give 3 or 4 times a day. To thevent Typhoid give every hour.

j Gregor had an opportunity for the first time to pass on the merits of the law and of the indictments

I drawn under it.

One line of the indictments was for violations of the law consisting ni a'low ing persons Lo i nter saloons during prohibited hours und another, line was for allowing obstructions, such as biiuds and screens to remain in the rooms during prohibited hours. The objections urged mostly involved the merits of the law upon the ground of its unconstitutionality and in1 volving the manner of its con-

st ruction.

The judge, while conceding that the law is a bunglesome piece of ! legislation and contains a number i of features rendering the constitu ! lionality of several of its provisions • extremely doubtful, yet thought after giving ’.he matier very mature j deliberation, that it was his duly to uphold the law upon the principle that where there was a doubt ! in the judicial mind touching the i constitutionality of a law, it was J the duty of the inferior courts to j resolve such doubts in favor of upholding the law, and upon that principle he would over rule the

of 1899 the democrats polled within twenty-one votes of as many as they did in 1892, a presidential year and a democratic landslide jubilee, when till the democrats voted. In 1890 their plurality was 601, and in 1*92, the landslide year, they were cut to 405. In 1890 the republicans, for an otf year, polled 2132 votes, and in 1892, the land slide year for their opponents, they bagged 22*1 votes, a difference and an increase in favor of republicans in such an inauspicious year of 157 votes. In 1894 we find another wide difference and a gain for re publicans that is startling to demo erats hut favorable to republicans. The democrats polled on secretary qf state 2632, the republicans 2472 i prohibitionists 131, and populists 201. This shows a falling otf ef democracy's vote since 1892 of 124 votes, which added to the 122 fall ing from 1890 to 1892 makes a net loss to democracy of 246 votes in

the four years. On the other hand

This added to their 157 Rate of Interest motions to quash and hold the in- gain from 1890 to 1892 makes a

liL’iires that their votes bold their

own pretty generaliy.

On the county tickets theebunge is more marked than it is on national and state affairs. We take lor example the representative and the sheriff. In 1890 Ader received 577 plurality oter Breckenridge, and Vestal 627 over Watson, while G. M. Black, for auditor, got 717 plurality. In 1892 Vermillion got 40i» over Lockridge (the landslide year,) and Glidewell 448 over Me(Jorkle, tlnre being no auditor that year. What had we in 1894V The republicans wiped out the 409 on representative and elected a man by the vote of 28, a change in two years of 437, and in four years of 605. On sheiitf the democratic te duction from 1892 was 398, and in four years it showed a reduction of 577, Glideweli last time getting off with a bare 50 plurality. From these conclusions it will be seen that the republicans of Putnam county have great cause tor rejoicing, and their hope of earn ing tht county by a bandsome majority in 1896 is consequently well grounded.
