Karl McKee arrived yesterday from Christman, III,, where he lias been visiting relatives. John Howe and Cluis. Davis have returned for work. The senior class will not have a primary oratorical as was expected, John and Frank Walker not being able to be here. Unusual interest is manifested in the debate which will be held in Meharry hall Wednesday evening tor the purpose of selecting orators to represent DsPauw in the intercollegiate debate to he held at Indiana university on Feb. 22. The subject to he debated is as follows: ‘•Resolved, that the unlim ited coinage of gold and silver at the ratio of 111 to 1 by ti e United States alone would be preferable to the single gold standard, assuming international agreement out ol the question.” There are six contestants: Kd S. Meade. Claude I). Hull, C. I). Koyse and M. L. Dnggy, from the senior class; Fred Barrows and I). V\ Williams from the junior class. Kacli contestant has been required to prepare an exhaustive paper on the negative of| the question, which are now in the hands of the judge. Twenty minutes before the de .a;.* on Wednes day evening, the contestants will choose by lot the side upon which they will speak. The contestants will then he selected on a basis of 50 per cent for delivery. Interest in the debate is intensified because of the prominence of the question which is now being universally discussed. It is expected that an unusually large number of business and professional men will attend the debate. A nominal admission fee will be charged in order to cover

expenses.
