The house was entirely too small to accommodate the great crowd, although a thousand persons were present and heard .Mr. Boyer on “The Babe of Bethlehem.” The sermon held the audience in perfect <iuiet throughout. Some of his word paintings were most beau tiful and touching. Mr. Brower sang a charming solo and the choir rendered appropriate music. It was a delightful service. Mr. Bo^er made a strong appeal to sinners to accept the Christ and six persons came forward. The num her of additions have now reached one hundred and thirty six, and the end is not yet. Still lliiiitizij; a Wife special to the Indianapolis Journal. Ckawkordsville. Ind., Dec. 25.— Ain* Estes, the old gentleman from Danville, this s*ate, who has been here two months in seaich of a wife, has shaken the dust of this place from his feet and sought new pastures. He has gone to BninbrJdge. Before going he hud a woman here write a letter for him to it lady at Bainbridge, in which he proposed marriage, and he car ried the letter down and delivered it in person, but as yet no report has been received concerning the success of the mission. He said that he proposed to stand and wait until the woman had read the letter and see what effect it would Lave on her. The letter commenced by announcing the name of the bearer and what his mission was, and begged the lady to read the entire letter before telling the old gentleman “No.” Mr. E«tes is a nice old man, with some means, but his manner of wooing a wife does not seem winning. if yon want fresh dates, tig*, nuts candies and fruits of all kinds, call on Tiroadstreet & Son. 4s eodtti Carhonettrs are the latest, at Nicholsons only.
