he sold to the first one that inquired the price, for $9. Hail he been posted he might just as well received fl5 for the hay as it is a scarce article even at that price. It would he a big investment for any green goods dealer or investment shark to give $60 to learn Ins name but a feeling of consideration for his benighted family restrains ns from publishing it.’’ A Canadian editor discusses the itinerant dealer question ns follows: “Th" itinerant dealer is of no earthly use to a town. He gives nothing to churches or public enterprises and pays nothing in common expenses. He lias nothing in common with our people. He can cheat with impunit*. The home merchant lias a reputation to sustain. He bears his share of the expenses of the town. When a Mlh-crip-tipn is passed lie is one of the first to he I approached. He builds a house and makes oilier permanent improvements I that enhance the value ot our property.. He helps pay for the churches in which we worship and the school to which we send our chil ren. He cannot afford to misrepresent his goods or swindle Ins customers. Self Interest alone prevents this. It is not ilitllcult to decide which of the two classes of dealers should receive the support and patronage of the

people.

Last Monday night C. E. Wilder lav in wait for some thieves who had been robbing an out-building. The th’evos had got in their work on several previous occasions and Mr. Wilder made up his mind to catch them. On lust Monday night he hid in another out-biiild-ing and waited for them. About 10 o’clock he heard some one trying to pry off a door. He gave one whoop and took after the thieves. They mo down the alley toward the city with Wilder in hot pursuit yelling for the police at every jump. He was gaining rapidly on the scamps when they threw up their hands and surrendered. They begged so hard not to be locked up that Mr. Wildei released them on their promise to do better in the future.—
