Another full house greeted Mr j Boyer last night, notwithstanding the inclement weather. In the | able discussion of ‘"Christianity
according to Christ” lie said:
“'f Jesus were here today his bitterest enemies would be found among bis professed followers. One hundred and forty-five ditlerent religious bodies are building up sectarianistn by their distinctive schools and colleges. A parent sends his boy to his own denominational school for fear if he goes elsewhere he will be taught something misleading: and yet “one church is as good as another,” according to sectarianism. The churches of today have fragments of the truth: one looks through a green ray. another blue, another yellow. One says,‘This ig our creed; another, •This is our confession of faith’; another ‘This is our discipline;’ ‘Will you he baptized into this faith ?’ But "Ghristlaulty according to Christ” is not a system of theology contained in some creed that cannot be defended, explained or understood. It is not my interpietation of the Bible, nor of some church, or council or ecclesiastiuism. I To find Christianity according to Christ | must go back of all councils to Christ. All churches believe in him. Here icommon ground. Here all can meet. Only a sclfis.t principle that keeps one clinging to a creed that all the rest reject. Disloyalty to Christ. The creed basis is doctrinal; the basis of Christiany is personal—a belief in Christ. If we WDiiIn stop with a belief in Christ denominations would be impossible. A man for the first time bears about | Christ, believes in him, repents, and is | baptized; what do you eall him? Methodist V No. PresbyterianV No. What then? .Simply a Christian. The sin of the age has been a turning away from Christ to a doetrine, u creed, a human leader. The world will never be converted until we return lo Him. believe in Him, obey Him, acknowledge His authority, svbmit to the one baptism— immersion in water, keep the ordinances as he gave them, do his will as taught in his word. "Blessed are they that do his commandments that they may have right to the tree of life and enter through the gates into the city.” There were two additions and three baptisms; Subject tonight: “Complete Sanctification, or Second Blessing.” All cordially invited.
