Since the visit of “Jack” the college dog to Bloomington music is on the boom at Indiana university. The Telejthune says: All students who play any kind of band instruments are requested to meet Friday, Dec. 6th, at 1 o'clock in Dr. Bryan’s room. If feasible a college band will be started. Along with the exceptional musical devel opment of the present year a good band will prove very acceptable. The ladies of the university who are athletically inclined, are now supremely happy that the gymnasium has been opened. It is complained that « large number of books have been re moved from the History and Political Science laboratory. This should certainly be stopped if there is any means of doing so. Already the voice of the orator in preparation for thepiimary con test can be beard. Watt Lewis is to be congratulated on his excellent success in his new mode ol hair dressing. Manager Nees of the foot ball team is making arrangements for a large number of games next spring. The eophor, lores recited yester day for the tirst time in military tactics. Only two more weeks until the holidays, but they will be busy
ones.
The freshmen practiced signal drill this afternoon. The gymnasium class met in the armory last night and practiced movements for an hour. The class numbers about fifty which will be more than doubled iu a few days The Fourth Year German club will meet this evening at the Harris house. We were mistaken yesterday when we said that not a democrat was to be found in the college. Today we fouhd two had the cour ago to say they were democrats. The young ladies ot the freshman class met this afternoon in Plato hall and laid out some plans for the future. The ’99 boys are perplexed. Col. Weaver gave an impromptu quiz to his class in Economics this morning. Mr. Carmack who has been sick at the Beta house, is able to be around again. Rev. Boyer led prep chapel
again.
Rev. Pack, who has been quite sick, has recovered. We fail to see how a student can afford to miss the Y. M. C. A. lecture course and the artists concert courst. The first lecture of the Y. M. C. A. course will be given next Tuesday. Tom Darnal! had an operation performed yesterday for tonsilitis. Prol. Johnson will examine his class in Cicero tomorrow. The first year German class have l»egun work in the reader. The seniors met today after chapel and transacted class busi-
ness.
The young laidies in the gymnasium class under the direction of Miss Sherwood, are greatly disappointed in that they can not have the use of the armory. They are compelled to climb three flights of stairs at the Dormitory where they go through the exercises, which alone gives them enough exercise.
