Dr. John will lecture this evening at Vincennes and tomorrow evening at Terre Haute. Rev. W. K. Weaver is moving from Olive street to the parsonage ou west Walnut street. Mrs. Mary Florer is at home from an extended visit with relatives and friends in Minnesota. Prof. J. P. Naylor has moved from Anderson to Seminary street in the Mills property. Miss Lula Leather.’ir.n, of Madison township, is visiting friends in the city for a few days. M. A. Alexander, who is moving here from Indianapolis, has ranted Mrs. Claggett’s property, on Bloomington street. In the case of George Girton vs the T. H. A I. Ry. Co. for damages alleged to have been caused by a train burning bay and fencing on the plaintiff's farm, a jury in the circuit court brought in a

verdict Wednesday for $IJ7.i>0 in favor of the plaintiff. Smiley N. Chambers, one of the leading republican of the state and who has spoken in this city on several occasions, is attending court today. The Century club will meet Saturday afternoon &t the home of Miss Dova Lloyd. Paper by Mrs. N. S. Joslin, on “George Eliot’s Works.” About ’steen yards of that Chicago wallpaper is peeling off the ceiling of the sheriff’s office. The lute republican earthquake probably moved it some. Last night’s electric light failure was due to the breaking of a water pipe at the engine hou.te. The damage is Iteing repaired today, fourteen men working on it. All will be fixed by tonight. .'Lry, the 13 year old daughter of Win. Reynolds, who lives live mile> east of town, fell yesterday and suffered a compound fracture of the arm between the wrist and elbow. Dr. Poole was summoned and gave the necessurv surgical attention. Stoner Bros, shipped two car loads of cattle.to Jersey City today. The shipment made by W. R. Grogan today was one of the finest ever made from here. Toe cattle were beauties averaging about 1730 pounds. The price paid w as #1.15 per hundred. A party of Motion otlh ials are here this week looking over the ground for a proposed branch of their road. The object is to have a line reach into the coal regions and the intentions now are to build a road from Putnauiville to Bowling Green. The surveyors will be here the tirst of next week. Mr, and Mrs. C. \V. Ellis have issued invitations for the marriage of their daughter, Peimelia Catharine, to Mr. Louis George Deerhake, to occur Thursday afternoon, Dec. 13. 181)5, at 3:30 o’clock. At home announcements state they will tie at home after December 18 at 57 English Avenue, Indianapolis. An irate subscriber telephoned us this morning at seven o'clock that he was headed this way with a club. He took our last night’s weather report of warmer as it was printed and believed it. Poor man! He isn’t on to the weather syslem as sent from Washington. It takes long practice to read a weather report correctly. A party of friends last evening called on Miss Mollie Mathers at the residence of J. W. Cole and gave her a delightful surprise party. The occasion was made merry by the fact that the surprise was genuine. The guests were highly entertained, dainty refreshments were served and the affair is reported as a pleasant one to the hostess and guests. An exchange says that an Indiana township trustee has discovered that this is the month of wife desertions. He says many unhung acoundrelj live with their wives all summer and then desert them in the fall of the v«ar. and then the forsaken families become charges on the townships in which they reside while the husbands work free lunch counters.

Liocust street M. K. Church, The revival services are still in progress with no abatement of interest. Yesterday, according to appointment was observed as a day of fasting and prayer. Services commenced at 10:30 a. m. and continued uninterruptedly until one o’clock. Again the people came at 2 :30 o’clock. A meeting for young men and one for young ladies was held at 6:30 and the public aervices at 7 o’clock. The meetings will continue. The young men will meet again at 6:30 this evening in the upper prayer room, and the young laidies at the same hour in the lower room. Public services at 7 o’clock. A cordial invitation is extended to all to attend these services.
