Yesterday morning near the hour of noon various members of the South Side club mighr have been seen with baskets on their arm wending their way to the home of Mr. and Mrs. M. J. In consequence supper was served at the same place, and with full hearts the company had the privilege of veiwing the remains of one of the most distinguished of his tribe, flanked by an unusually splendid letiuue. The evening was spent in games and a happy time generally. The curfew lad I might have caught some of the home seekers on their way. Jesie W. Weik, of this city, lias been elected Supreme Chaplain and Historian of the “Order of Lincoln,” a society organized this week at Indianapolis, the purposa of which is to gather relics of the martyred president. The articles of incorporation were tiled Tuesday with the secretary of state. Mr. Weik has for years been engaged in the collection of articles, letters, manuscripts and mementoes, and no doubt has a better collection of Lincoln matter than any one in the state. The selection is well made so far as the historian part of the office goes. As to the chaplain feature we suspect Mr. Weik will need several rehearsals, hut in time believe lie will he able to master it thoroughly. One of the mo-t pleasant of the, several events which took place on the eve of this Thanksgiving was the fourth Annual Peace dance of the (Hoc Tribe of Red Men. The events have proved quite popular and on Wednesday evening there was a large gatliering at the opera house. When the grand march was formed there was about forty couples in line. The eyening was entirely devoted to dancing and with the delightful music of Panden Brothers’ orchestra, of Indianapolis, time passed all to swiftly. Among those present from a distance were Misses McBride, Kennedy, O’Donnell, and John Conway and Mr. Tiffin, all of Terre Haute; W. C. Murphy and Misses Myers and Karle, of Crawfordsville, and ('has. Laue and sister. Miss May from Ladoga. On Wednesday afternoon Mrs. F. G. Gilmore entertained a number of friends at her elegantly appointed home, 212 south Vine street. The invitations were unique cards with a hand painted thimble, thread and needle in the corner, which indicated better than words that the event was to he a “thimble” party. In entertaining her guests Mrs. Gilmore introduced an amusement that was something entirely new to Greencaslle society. Each guest was handed a printed slip headed “A Country Dinner” 'Ihere were twenty-one questions on tbe list each one to he answered by tha names of edibles which form a well-reg-ulated country dinner. The attempts to answer the list afforded a delightful contest which was won by Mrs. Jerome Allan, who gave the greatest number of answers correctly. The prize was a handsome bud vase. Forty-two invitations were sent out and the ladies a’tending pronounce it one of the pleasantest of the year. Mrs. Gilmore was assisted by Misses Lillian Southard, Harriet Joslin, Klla Beckwitn, Genevieve Ames, and Margaret Gilmore. In the evening informal telephone invitations were sent out and a number of 1 couples answered “No. 30” by atteiid-
