Danville Won. Yesterday was not a typical foot ball day. The inclement weather made even the hardened veterans of the gridiron shiver and the few spectators in attendance were very miserable. Nevertheless the Danville high acliool team appeared at the appointed time ready to battle with the Greencastle Athletic association. It must here be said that Danville sent over the finest specimens of high school scholars ever seen in the state. Some had the ap pearance of being past the meridian of life, a few more wore well developed crops of whiskers and in all averaged about 175 pounds while their adversaries would average only 140 pounds. The articles of agreement called for two twentyfive minute halves. Danville won the toss and took the west goal. For twenty minutes the G. C. A. A. team battled against heavy odds and fought nobly but Danville scored a touch down on a fluke. The half closed with the ball on Danville’s 25 yard line. The sec ond half was a reputation of the first in style of plays and with but six more minutes to play, the score stood 12 to 10 in favor of the Hendricks county Goliahs. At this moment Referee Callager, of Danville, asserted that the time was up although Time keeper Darnall declared that six more minutes re mained to he played. The Danville team marched from the field feeling proud of tneir victory if it was not fairly won. The ball was Danyille’s 25 yard line and was being pushed toward their goal. The following is the list of the Greencastle players who shared the fate of the “Gallant Six Hundred;” Donnohue, Conklin, Blakely, Lane, Kennett, Glldewell, Brockway, Sackctt, /ink, Jacobs and Cannon. Those who desire sewing done should call on Misses Minnie W hi tied and Sharp 409 east Huiiha street. They are prepared to do all kinds of sewing for both ladies and children.
