The manager of the base ball team contemplates an extensive trip through the south next spring. Coacher Wade leaves for New Haven Nov 28. About fifty names have been secured for the Louisville excursion on Thanksgiving at a $2.50 rate. Kitty more names must be secured before a special train can he secured. The prospects for the foot ball team are indeed very excellent. With all of this year’s team back except one and the large number of excellent second eleven men and Coacher Wade with us again, and under the management of Hamrick and Watts, and a new athletic park in which to play, the DePauw team next year should be a hummer. The managers of the foot ball team are trying to get a game with 1’uiduefor early in the season next year. At a meeting of the athletic board lust night Arthur Hamrick was elected foot ball manager for next ycai and Claude Watts elected assistant manager. In either case we belive there could have been no better man selected. Mr. McKinney, formerly of 1900, is yisiting friends. A new secret society has been formed which consist only of the backs on the foot ball team and Coacher Wade as an honorary member. The name ot the organ! zation is T. H. I). chapter of T. The members are Messrs. Shireman, Rtiick, Pulse. C. Hall and Wade and Win. San ly pledged. Miss Cartwright will spend Sunday in Indianapolis, the guest of her cousin, Miss Poddock. Misses Neal, Campbell and Harrison will spent Sunday at the home of Miss Tut wilder in Indianapolis. Mr. Spillitnin ol Wabash college, is visiting his cousin Chas. Smith. Mr. Spillimin is a member of Phi Delta Theta. Will Sparks will visit friends in Indianapolis over Sunday. Harry Weese has been appointed mail clerk on the Penn. line. Miss Kern will examine her German classes the first of next week. Guy Rodgers, of Chicago university, is visiting Sig brothers. He will probably enter DePauw later in the year. Miss Bessie Harrick who was a student here a few years ago, is visiting Kappa sisters and taking examination in Greek. Mr. John Watts of Marion, is visiting his son Claude at the Phi Psi house. Miss Nell Brown, of Northwestern, is visiting Kappa sisters. Miss Pearl Beaver, of Oxford college, Ohio, is the guest of her old school-mate, Miss Mahan. Remember Prof. Longdon’s lecture on next Monday evening in the prep assembly room. He will lecture on “Some Phases of German University Life.”

Compartment sleeping Cars, Cincinnati to Chicago, C. H. A I>. ICY. These cars are the tinest that have ever been turned out of the Pullman shops, and are duplicates of the magnificent cars on the New York and Chicago Limited. They are divided into nine rooms, each room containing a double lowef and upper berth of the pattern used in the open sleeping car. The rooms are much larger than the staterooms in the largest steamships; each room being furnished in a difterent colored tapestry from its neighbor, and containing a wash-stand which is built into one corner. This wash-stand is arranged so that it is really a receptacle for hats, bonnets and small articles; also containing a clothes brush, hair brush, comb, etc., ami by pulling down the metal handle a large silver wash basin is brought into position, and right above the basin are. two faucets, one for hot and the other for cold water. In addition to this is a faucet connecting with a drinking fountain of ice water. In the other corner of the room is a handsomely cushioned seat which can be turned to one side, exposing the closet. Electric bells and every convenience that can possibly be crowded into a hotel room are in these compartments. The prices are the same as in the standard open sleeping car, and our patrons have the choice, as we run one car of each pattern on every night train of the C. H. & I). and Monon, between Cincinnati and Chicago, both to accommodate those who do not know the advantages of the pew car and prefer the the old style on account of familiarity with them, and to enable us, except iii great rushes, to give every one a lower berth.
