Messrs. Huehtel, Pulse and Zink are initiated Betas. Manager Mead, of the foot ball team has made arrangements to play a game with Missouri State university at St. Louis, on Oct. 26 for a guarantee of three hundred dollars. Messrs. Frank Preston and Frank Fox worthy, of I ndianupnlis, are here visiting university friends. Ned Blake, who has spent several days at Terre Haute, is hack. The sophomores met this afternoon at 1:30 and disposed of important class matters. The Thanksgiving game of foot hall has not been definitely arranged for. It is quite probable that it will be olayed with Illinois college at Peoria, 111. Will Spaiks visited Indianapolis yesterday. Foot hall practice wliis slightly interfered with yesterday on account of the rain. Most of the varsity eleven was out, however, and did some very satisfactory
work.
From thetdipping In this column yesterday from the Bloominyton Telephone it seems that I. U. students and professors are support ing the foot ball team and coach very enthusiastically. This is n lesson it seems to us that is worthy of our imitation (or there is noth ing that can do a team so much good and so insure success as a liberal support from the students and professors. The foot ball g.-ciie between I)ePauw and Kentucky State college which is to be played Monday afternoon at 3 :30 o’clock at Lynch’s park, promises to be one of the finest and hardest contested games of the season. Word has reached us through tiie manager of the Kentucky team that one of their half backs is the champion sprinter of the w'orld. Our boys have resolyed that he will never get through our line and every energy will be put forth to keep the resolution. The grounds are in fine condition and we hope a large crowd will be found supporting the team at the first
game.
Joseph A. Wright, ’94, who has been studying in Europe this summer, has returned to New York anil accepted a fellowship in the de partment of jurisprudence in Columbia college. Mr. Hartecock, of the class of 1902, is not pledged to the Delta Tan fraternity as was stated in yesterday’s edition of this paper, but to the Sigma Nu. We guess our informant was color blind. We wish to make tin apology to both the Delta Tau and Sigma Nu fra ternities. Last evening's issue of the /mlidiana polls News contained the stalest hatch of DePauw news that to our knowledge has ever been palmed otT on a reading public. It was even worse than that of ttie DePauw If'ccUi/ of last week.
day. They cannot win from us. These boys here will come right to the front.”—Craw/ordsville Jour mil. Mr. Osgood will get a tire punctured here also. He is talking entirely too soon. The Kentucky State team will play Purdue at foot ball today. The impression that Kentucky has played against no big teams is altogether wrong, for the eleven has had many hard fought battles on the gridiron. In the team is perTlie manager of the Kentucky State college foot ball team was here yesterday making arrangements for Monday’s game. Dr. Gobin lectures Monday evening in the assembly room of the preparatory school at 7:30 on “American Student Life.” Messrs. Wigger, Kurick and Meade are in Lafayette witnessing the Purdue-Kentucky foot ball
game.
Miss Bennett, ’94, is here visiting Kappa friends. Word has been received from Evansville that Allen Buchanan’s father died yesterday. Roy Wade want to Indianapolis this evening. Will Lockwood is at Evansville attending an Epworth League convention. Dr. Talbott, of Indianapolis, led chapel this morning.
