Mrs. Naomi Hunter, relict of the late Henry Hunter, died Saturday morning very suddenly at her home on the old homestead nine miles east of the city. She complained of a severe pain in tier shoulder in the morning, which it is thought went direct to her heart, she dying in a few minutes after the tlrst attack of pain. Mn. Hunter was one of the oldest ladies in Putnam county, and one of the best pos ed. She was eighty-tive years of age last July, and up to her death her memory was remarkably clear. She could relate the early history of the comity correctly and took a great deal of satisfaction in talking of the early struggles of the pioneers. The funeral occurred this morning at 10:30 o’clock with inter ment at Stilesville. Among the social events of last Fridry evening was the reception given by the members of Locust Street church to their new pastor, Rev. L. I). Moore. The spacious parlors of the residence of Prof, and Mrs. H. B. Longiten were thrown open and a large number of our citizens welcomed Mr. and Mrs. Moore to our midst. The attendance was not confined to the members of the church but a number of the members of the other churches called to pay their respects. These gave Rev. Moore a cordial greeting and a hearty reception. Refreshments were served and at ten o’clock the assemblage dispersed, going to their homes feeling that a very auspicious beginning for the year had been made for Locust Street church,. Rev. Moore preached Ids first two sermons of the church year yesterday to large
