week of the Wilson bill. There is no Wilson bill nor never has been since the democratic party took Mr. Wilson's pet measure, ripped it from end to end and then kicked it out bodily, supplying in its place a Gorman, Brice A- Co., measure that President Cleveland not only refused to sign but denounced in vigorous tones as an act of “party perfidy and party dishonor.” The desire of the democratic papers to deceive the people is very plain. The tariff bill we are now losing money so rapidly under is not tlie

This community was never more profoundly shocked by death’s hand than last evening when the news of the sudden death of Mrs. Weaver, wife of Col. James Rile} - Weaver, was rapidly passed over the city. Mrs. Weaver died at sis o’clock. Many of our citizens did not know she was ill and but few understood that she bud undergone a surgical operation, but such was the ease. Yesterday morning Dr. L. H Dunning, of Indianapolis, assisted by Drs. Lammers and Keans, of this city,’performed an opera tton upon Mrs. Weaver tor cancer of the breast. The operation was begun shortly after ten o'clock and was finished just before noon. Mrs. Weaver ra’lied from the an

The object of the suit is t secure an order of the court to dispose of the mortgaged real estate left by her husband. Under the laws of the state it is provided that a deserted wife can secure the right from court to dispose of any property owned by the husband. The property in question is on north Ninth street.

On Tuesday, March 19, Mrs. Weaver underwent the first operation which was performed by the same physi elans, from which she rallied nicely, and continued to improve until she and her relatives were quite hopeful for the outcome of the trial
of yesterday.
Mrs. Weaver was a lady of rare attainments and noble qualities. She had many friends in our city and over the state, who will be pained to hear of her death. She was a daughter of the late Bishop Simpson, of the M. E. church, her mother still living, residing at Philadelphia. Ool. Weaver and

Now that it is definitely settled that Corbett and Fitzsimmons are not to fight in Texas we suggest that they take their mill to Terre Haute. “Another big democratic victory in old Putnam” will never be announced by telephone, telegraph, grape vine or slow mule route. That day is past. The improvements in electricity will announce republican victories from now on.
Does Superintendent Mark of the poor farm, take the Star-Press? If he docs he will no doubt be paineu to find that it has not rushed to his defense. The organette seems to be tie especial champion of the superintendent of whom the grand jury made such a scathing report. Tilings haven’t improved much out there when the first grand jury since the change sees fit to officially say that “we find some evidence tending to show that the present manager has unnecessarily used profane language in the presence of the inmates; and we have information that the manager has shown evidence of the use to excess of alcoholic stimulants.” Kick around as it will Mr. Mark’s newspaper mouth-piece cannot produce such a report about George Sboptaugh who was thrown aside to make room for a commissioner's relative.

The South Bend Times says the Greencastle Star Preen lias taken a “very decided stand in favor of solidfying western sentiment in favor of a western man for the democratic nomination lor the presidency.” The Times is entitled to a medal for its discovery that the Star-Press ever took a decided stand tor anything.
Thni Tired Frellng N a common complaint and it is a dangerous symptom. It means that the system is debilitated because of impure blood, and in this condition it is especially liable to attacks of disease. Hood’s Sarsaparilla is the remedy for this condition. and also tor that weakness which prevails at the change of season, climate or life. Hood’s Pills act easily, yet promptly ami efficiently, on the bow els and liver. 25e.
The Banner Times is in receipt of a letter from Terre Haute also criticising our jail management. We don’t believe these jail birds are telling the truth and will need better evidence than they set out. The prisoners we learn from Sheritf Glidewell, get three square meals a day and the grand jury says their bedding is all right. They get eotfee three times a day. We be lieve the great hankering for pie leads these bums to roar. They are getting all they deserve.

Distress After Eating Sufferers from dyspepsia and indigestion are among tho most miserable people on earth.
“I was a great
