Realizing that the perpetuity of our country, the stability of our national institutions and the safety of our governmenl, depend to a large degree on the principles inculcated in the minds of our youth, 1 would suggest as one means of generating and developing these ideal virtues would be to originate and cultivate with their first ideas a proper devotion and respect for the American llag. It is my object that this llag shall float oyer every school house in this township and I think it would be advisable to every school to purchase its own llag by popular subscription. Thus each scholar would feel that he had a direct and personal interest in it. 1 would further suggest that as a reward of some meritorious, consideration some one scholar be appointed custodian of the llag to see that on each day, weather permitting, the llag is in its proper place. This duty should be related and should last only for a given period of time. It is my desire that this will arouse sufficient interest for the consummation of the plan at the earliest convenient time, and
