Cooper, returned to her home at Danville, 111., yesterday. •Jacob Brunner, of Jeffersonville, who has been visiting his niece, Mrs. Jacob Bicknell. returned home this afternoon. Robert Glidewell stepped on a banana peel last night on the west side of the sipiare and falling with force on the sidewalk broke Ins left arm at the wrist. Boh was evidently born under an unlucky star. The district convention of the W. R. ('. is in session at Terre Haute today. Among those going down from the Greencastle order were Mesdames A. O. White, J.* M. Donnohue, \V. J. Ashton and J. W. Jacobs. Wm. E. Starr, city marshal of Greeneastle, was chosen on a eoinmittee for permanent organization of the ehief of police of Indiana at Terre Haute yesterday. Tlie E.rpre*t says Mi. Starr made a speech at the banquet in the evening. The stone work of the Greencastle Manufacturing company's building, is being greatly delayed on account of a shortage of quarried stone at the Putnamville quarry. A force of men was sent down this morning to help get out

the stone.

State vs. Win G. Sloan, charged by John W. Allen with nssult and battery on August 1, was on trial in ’Squire Denny’s court today. The complaint charges Sloan with throwing large stones at the ntHant with attempts to kill. The case is on a change of venue from ’Squire Ashton’s court. The three hoys who ran away from their homes at Indianapolis and were here yesterday trying to get a ride to St. Louis were arrested and placed in jail. Supt. Powell was notified and the boys will he held until their parents are heard from. The boys gave their names as Willie Morgan, Elmer WeckerJy and Earl Wilkins. It is probable that the boys had made a study of five cent novels for a revolver and several rounds of cartridges were found in their pockets. The parents of the hoys came down this afternoon anil took them

home.

The street gang is getting in some good work in this end.

The people of Greencastle have an opportunity of purchasing a few choice residence lots on remarkable easy terms and at low prices in the M. B. Cox Addition. between Indiana street and the Junction road. A new street has been opened through 'he Addition, and the owners will plant shade trees this fall. The lots are fifty-one feet front and of a good depth. The prices are low and the terms remarkable, being only if’J.OO down and $2.(10 per month until paid for with out any interest whatever. A deed will he given as soon as one third is paid in. The title to the property is perfect, Messrs. Corwin & Lewis having given their certificate to this etl'eet. R. S. Graham, at Renick’s hardware store, has the lots for sale, and will gladly give any information concerning them. There are only twenty-eight of the lots and at the low price and remarkable terms upon which they are ottered they ought to go rapidly.
