John II. James was in Bedford yesterdav where he secured a divorce for his client, Mrs. John Etoheson. Mr. Ktclieson had brought suit for divorce in the Bedford court and Mrs. E. tiled a cross hill upon which siie got the divorce. Last night Mr. Janies witnessed a lively shooting scrape on Bedford’s streets and took shelter behind a corner, as tlie bullets were flying about promiscuously. Greencastle district seemed to receive its proper recognition as the leading district of the Northwest Indiana conference. it has the largest membership and pays the largest amounts to the benevolences of the church. When it came to selecting delegates to tlie general conference which meets in Cleveland next May, the lay delegates chose as their leader Hon. R. 8. Tennant, of Terre Haute. When it came to tlie selection of ministerial delegates, Drs. Hiekman and Gobin were elected on the second ballot and I). M. Wood received 59 votes, only three less than the vote that elected Dr. Gobin. It took ten more ballots to select a man from the north end of the state and in no one of these ballots did Mr. Wood fall below fifty votes. As it is Greencastle district has three delegates out of five, with Mr. Wood as the first reserve delegate. Four years ago Dr. 8. B. Town was the first reserve and in Dr. Cissel’s sickness lie was called upon to serve as
his substitute.
