Greencastle base baUists are preparing to attend the Kansas City-Indian-apolis games in Indianapolis next week. These games will be in the nature of a settlement of the western league championship and will be largely attended. Wain Lewis reports a stray Jersey cow with a young calf in his pasture known as the Voss land, near the Monon overhead bridge south of the city. Tile animal does not belong to him and he says it has been there for three or

A telegram to the Indianapolis Journal today states that Miss Alice Resor, of this city, has been elected a teacher in the Rockport public schools, having the third grade. Miss Resor has been in southern Indiana with her sister for several weeks. Miss Belle Resor will teach in this city again this winter. Daniel Moftatt of this county has received word that ids brother, Thomas Motl'att, of Kansas, 111., who was taken to Chicago two months ago to be operated on for abscess of Hie bowels, is no better and that he will brought back to his home immediately. A burglar entered the house of F. C. Jacobs on South College Avenue last evening. Fred Jacobs was about half asleep and the fellow entered his room The man was shoeless and at once went to work appropriating Fred’s shoes. He tried to get some clothing and by this time Fred had gatheicd his senses enough to begin yelling. He awakened tlie household and the burglar was tints frightened away. Jacobs got a pretty good discription of the fellow. A Greencastle man has discovered a new hot weather delicacy which he claims is calculated to make one forget the ravages of the heat. He takes a cantaloupe and puts it in the ice chest, where it is allowed to remain for three or four hours. When it has become thoroughly chilled through he cuts it into halves, cleans it and fills the interior fall of ice cream. The two halves are then joined together, and the cantaloupe is again placed on ice until ready to serve as a desert after dinner. The ice cream is eaten out of the odd receptacle, and the succulent melon

follows.

Work will begin on the new university athletic park next Monday. The committee in charge has decided not to let the work to contractors as was originally intended but to hire men and place some good, responsible, experienced man in charge. It is probable that Capt. Chaffee will take charge of the work. The committee is thinking of a new scheme in connection with the park.
