Burglars tried to enter the residence of Aut Murphy last night but did not succeed. They next went to Mrs. Jane Moore’* house but were frightened away hy a lamp being lighted in the house. Mr. Murphy states he saw the fellows moving around but could not recognize them. A move is on foot by which the city base ball association will have the use of the new university athletic park providing it contributes so much for building.*, etc. It would be a great saving for the city association and would at the same time be of great assistance to the university association in paying for the new park. The news of the death of Mrs. G. J. Langsdale, which is chronicled in another column of this paper isasad blow to her many friends in Greeneastle, in which city she resided for so many years. She was a noble, Christian lady whose circle of friends was limited only by her acquaintances. The bereaved family have the sympathy of our citizens, many of whom have sent letters of condolence. The state fair for 18!)5 promises to be the best meeting in the history of the state. The targe premiums offered and the liberal rules adopted will certainly attract a large list of exhibitors in all classes, insuring a most excellent and attractive show. This is what the people want to see and the attendance is likely to be most satisfactory. The many attractions at Indianapolis during fair week, and the very low railroad rates make this a splendid time to visit the state capital. Arthur and I.ary Whitcomb, of Clinton, were in the city yesterday, the guests of their brother. Both are now students at Yale, the former in the science and the latter in the law department.
