Rev. I*. II. Beery left today at noon for Lafayette to attend teachers’ imtitute. He has accepted the principalshin of ( larks Hill schools in the south east corner of Tippecanoe county. The latest fad among the girls is wearing of small hearts as lockets. Some of the young ladies who are always in line with the progress of the times, have obtained miniature pictures of their best fellows and placed them inside of these metal ornaments to feast their eyes upon when the real objects

Mrs. Indsley, son Ed and daughter Reba, of Greencastle, are making arrangements to make their home in Terre Haute. Mr. Ed Insley will aitend the Rose Polyetehnie institute and Miss Insley lias been engaged ns teacher in the public schools of this city. Both are former DePauw students.—Terre Haute Tribune. It is probable the Rev. J. AA'. J. Collins. the efticient and popular pastor of the Main street M. E. church w ill be transferred to Rockport, Ind., by the Indiana M. E. conference which convenes next month at Indianapolis. The charge at Rockport pays a larger salary than the one now held by Rev. Collins—Sew Albany Tribune. All members of the College Avenue church Sunday school and the league are cordially invited to come with their baskets tilled and have a good old fashioned picnic, in the college campus, AVednesday afternoon, Aug. 28th. The Louisville. New Albany & Chicago company expects to begin operations in some departments of its new shops at Lafayette on the first of September, but will not have them in full operation before Nov. 1. A number of the men at the shops in New Albany have been transferred to Lafayette to assist in placing the new machinery in position. The new machinery to g<> into these
