Theue are some samples of fruit, at the Putnam county exhibit that look remarkably like the modern olive. They are classified as unknown. It has often been said that in my of our later day olives are nothing but green plums, flavored to fill it the taste. :— v The Bannek Times is losing its ••eputation as a calamity howler; i had to quit, because its news c il u in ns gave the lie to its editorial utterances of the calamity type.— Star- Press. There has been a republican t lection in the meantime, neighbor, and the next congress will stop the fool policy of the democratic party.
Williamson’s article in the demo eratic papers we fail to discover anv mention of the name of hi democratic neighbor, Mr. Neff, in any wav, shape or form. Mr. Nell' had exclusive charge of tiie case before the grand jury which brought in an indictment for murder in the first degree, and. as we are informed, took an active part in the trial from the commencement to the conclusion. A correct history should be complete. Mr. A. D. Kelly, who has one of the best fruit farms in the cutmty, was a caller at the Banner Times’ ofliee this alternoon where he left some elegant samples. Mr. Kelley advanced an idea that should meet with hearty approval. He suggests the making of a fine fruit display at the State fair, to be known as a Putnam county exhibit. There is much fine fruit here that would be advertised to the world there, and taking the local exhibit as a starter a display could be made that would prove a great opening of eyes as to our resources. Why not employ some one to collect the exhibit and be manager of the same? It would pay handsomely in the long run. The Banner Times seconds Mr. Kelly’s motion most heartily.

Netvland T. DePauw will probably dispose of a large portion of his holdings in the new American Plate Glass company, to Maj. CJ. T. Doxey, of Anderson, who was elected President of the company last
Tuesday.
It was expected that Mr. DePauw would be elected vice president of the company, but it is reliably reported that if certain deals are consummated, he will retain on ly a small interest in the new company. The office of vice president was not filled at the election last Tuesday. Mr. DePauw left last night for Indianapolis to attend a meeting of the company.
