«i*» limned Here. Terre Haute Trltmne. The Tribune takes pride in the fact that Professor TV. s. Hlntchley is proving to be hy far the best state geologist Indiana has had in recent tears. He began active work soon after his induction into office, and the energy with which be has per formed the duties ol his position, j and the practical character of his) labors have done more to ti^Nnon i strate the real usefulness of his office than any theoretical demonstration could have done. Professor Hlutchley does not believe that tlie sole duty of the state geologist is to stand guard over the collection of curios in his office in the state capitol, and to publish a semi occasional report tossed together at the last moment as an excuse for the expenditures of his office. Moral; when Indian wants an efficient state official, apply to Vigo county.

Her story is that she rented one of Kerr’s houses at Carbon and had just moved in, w hen Kerr ami a carpenter came down to tlie house to make some repairs. Kerr remained and helped her hang pictures. After the carpenter left she alleges that Kerr made indecent proposals to her. The case came up for trial in Esquire James’ court last evening, when Kerr, who was
