Frank Palmer, assistant general passenger agent, says the excursion paid the roads $12,340. It cost to run the several sections $2,00>. He estimates that it cut into the company’s regular business $2,000, and the advertising, etc., coat $500. and he is satisfied that the roads made $s.000 iu clear money through running the excursion. Coroner Kleinhuh is in receipt of a second letter from William F. Newman of 2642 Morgan street, in ISt. Louis, in which lie again describes the dead mail here as Willie Newman, who was twen-ty-two years of age and wlto was on his way to Indianapolis where he had a married sister. The letter claims the dead man had a sum of money on his person when he left St. 1 ottis. This party is probably the rightful claimant of the body and will in the future probbly send for the body as he so states in

the second letter.

On August 23 anil 24 there will be held in this city in the vacant room under the First National Bank a grand fruit exhibit of the product of Putnam county. Apples, pears, plums, peaches, grapes, preserves and jellies will be on exhibition. Five pieces of fruit to constitute an exhibit, except on grapes and plums of which a larger
