Some plan should be devised and that at once that would complete the local telephone lines. There is an unnecessary delay about finish ing the Greencastle system that should be brought to an immediate halt. The construction company should not be allowed to build its lines here at their convenience. The local subscribers have subscribed for the instruments because they want them and not merely to await the pleasure of a corpora tion that is building lines elsewhere. In a recent case papers were filed before one ot the country justices and be fore he could find a man to act as constable, the party upon whom the papers were to be served had fled the country. A Cigarette’ll Make-up.

The following is the result of an analysis of a cigarette, made recently by a physician: “The to bacco was found to be strongly ina pregnated with opium, while the wrapper, which was warranted to he be rice paper, was proved to be the commonest kind of white paper whitened with arsenic. The two poisons combined were present in sufficient quantities to create in the smoker a habit of using opium without his being aware of it, his craving for which can only be satisfied by an incessant consumption of cigarettes.” These facts would be sufficient to stop the manufacture of anything less insidious in

its influence.

In time, no doubt, city streets will have cycle paths for wheelmen to go to and fro on. The bicycle is much used for business as well as for pleasure, and as time goes on it will be more and more utilized thus. It would he very easy to construct bicycle paths for wheel riders above the sidewalks of the city. The elevated bicycle path need not he near the windows, it need not he wide or obstruct the light. It could indeed lie made really ornamental, constructed of ironwork. This is an idea worth thinking of. Do you VVunt to S11hIy Shoi-t-Huixl? If so call on or address Prof. George L.
