Elmer Baysinger died yesterday at h's home in Madison township on 2. of consumption, at the age of 2.'I years. He was a son of John and Elizabeth Baysinsrer. The funeral occurred today at Long Branch. I. M. Hurley reports the sale of Mrs. Lavina K. Newhouse's property on Anderson street to D. F. Hawk, of Hancock county. The purchase price was $27.10. Mr. Hawk will move his family here for educational purposes. Mr. and Mrs. T. G. Duvall and Mrs. Mary Ogden left at noon for Danville. Mr. and Mrs. Duvall will visit in Indianapolis a day or two before leaving foi Delaware. Ohio, their new home, where Mrs. Ogden will join them later. A certain well known young man who is a cigarette fiend, asked a physician if lie thought cigarette smoking was injurious to the brain. The doctor said: “Oh, no, not in the least, a fellow who has brains won’t smoke them.” The young man is puuzzled
over the answer.

The r eport that the big ten-wheel engines on the Vandalia bail been con- ] demned is not true. The engines, when ! in service, made good records, and will be placed on the heavy express trains as soon as the improvements to the track are completed. These engines are too heavy for some sections of the track. The exercises at Hinton Chapel last Thursday evening were well rendered. Dr Haygood’s lecture on “Fred Douglas” was replete with good things from the biography of that man who arose from slavery to a position of respect and prpmineiice. A remarkable lieu egg has come into the possession of a south side family. Apparently it is the grafture of three or four eggs into one, as the article is three or four times the size of an ordinary egg. It is six inches in circumference measured one way and fourteen inches in circumference its longest part. It weighs five and a half ounces. The egg was found m a hen’s nest a couple of days ago.
