“The rumor indicated by your letter that we contemplate building and placing upon the market bicycles is premature. We have been making some investigations and have several improvements whereby the bicycle can he reduced in expense and at the same time retain its high efiiciency and durability but we have not come to a conclusion as to building them. Greeneastle’s battery was Kiteljorg and Snyder; and Ladoga had Faucett and Boyatt in the points. Greeneastle is in good trim for the Andersens Saturday and will make a desperate effort to win from the champions. The large ciowd cheered the Greeneastle ball players heartily, and the game was a great drawing card for the manage-

The fact I hat the banks of Salem, Or., have recently laid in a supply of cents, so as to he able to make exact change, is a matter for comment in the local newspapers, one of w hieh remarks t hat “it is getting to he pretty close picking” there. It, is only a very few years since j the smallest coin in use anywhere west | of the Missouri was the nickel, and even now in many of the further Western cities the humble cent is despised. In buying at the stores, if the account figures an odd two cents, the customer gets it ; if three cents, the customer pay* a nickel But the boom times are passing, and cents are necoining money
pretty much everywhere.
