Tomorrow evening at the Presbyterian church Rev. W. K. Weaver will give an address on “The Mountain TV bites of the South.” He spent several years among these people from the Virginias to Georgia, visiting hundreds of their windowiess cabins and is perfectly acquainted with their conditions and modes of life. A rare opportunity will be given to the citizens of Greencastle on Aug. 4th, when Dr. Thos. Marshall of Chicago, the eloquent advocate of Foreign Missions will give two addresses in the Presbytrian church. Dr. Marshall has no superiors and but few equals in his line. The structure and contents were entirely destroyed, the live stock being saved. Mr. Sweet lives on the Kambo place. The tire gave rise to a foolish rumor that John Lane and one of his sous had been killeu and his home destroyed by lightning. Yesterday afternoon lightning struck the barn of Jerry Nichols, east of Delmar, in Marion township, and killed a horse of Thomas Heavin, who had stopped for shelter. Four more horses were in the barn and one of them was knocked down. Mr. Heavin was badly shocked. The building was not much damaged. This is the second time the building has been struck by lightning. They had planned to eat on -the lawn but the heavy shower made that impossible so they took their baskets in doors. They had a great variety of provender and a greater time. The society does much good and is composed of some of our best young ladies. “Pinch” was down from Ladoga yesterday. Pinch is a rooter from way hack When the Ladoga’s liegan scoring yesterday “Pincn” began rooting. He slid across the grand stand seats, gathing dust and excitement and when Ladoga was winning was all smiles, voice, ‘Chariey-horse” and repartee, hut when Greencastle began winning “Pinch” began to subside. He rooted clear out of the grand stand across the catcher’s box and finally plowed up a space near third base where his voice gradually died down to a whisper and when Eiteljorg sent that cannon shot acroas towards the setting sun “Pinch” was in a state of utter collapse. It was
