Tlirlllliitf Kxpsrtenen of a lllryrle Klder . In Florida. Bartow, Fla., July 19.—"Si” Mur- 1 (laugh and two companions were riding on their wheels, near this city, when \ Murdaugh saw a monster rattler in front of him. He drove his bicycle over | the snake, but the reptile managed to ] twine itself about the spokes of the rear wheel, and proceeded to strike Mur- | (laugh in the back with every revolu- ! tion of the wheel. Murdaugh s horrified companions | screamed to him, and the rider, shrieking “I am bitten,” tumbled off the wheel in a faint. His companions came up and found that the snake had been | striking the broad leather belt which Murdaugh wore about his body. The j snake’s last stroke had been so powerful that it could not withdraw its fangs | from the belt, and the reptile was found j thrashing its tail about Murdaugh’* j legs. The snake was killed and Mur- j (laugh revived, but he was deathly sick ( from fright for several hours. The snake was six feet in length and j had Iff rattles and the usual button. Its | fangs were nearly an inch long, and but I for the leather belt Murdaugh would j have been killed.

That W 12,000,000 Milt. Chicago, July 19.—Ex-Senator C. B. Farwell says that the suit brought against the John V. Farwell company by the assignee* of the Potter-Lovell company of Boston, for the recovery of j 1112,830,000 of bonds said to have been fraudulently conveyed, is a bit of abso- j lute nous 0-tc. The bonds, he said, wore conveyed a year before the Boston company failed and are as worthless as wastepaper. Mr. Farwell says he told the plaintiffs’ attorneys if they w?uld furnish an express wagon he would turn over to them the fl2,700,000 worth of I naner with uleasure.
