Washington street near College avenue is being re-crowned with macadam ami stone dust. Now let the council order in some good gutters along that thoroughfare and it will be one of the beat streets in the city. On certain parts of that street there has never been a stone gutter.

After the invocation by Dr. Poncher, Watson I.. Lewis, of Wheeling, was culled forward by President Fuhvider. He spoke upon the "Government Ownership of Railroads. and in a dear, forcible manner evolved his subject. 11 is stage presence was easy and graceful. This effort eclipsed all former ones, and he fully demonstrated his superiority over the Earlham man. H.
