\ isitors, welcome! You don’t have to buy, come and get posted at our store before you buy a dollar s woatb elsewhere. Our goods are all marked in plain, large figures. The Department Store has come to stay because it is economically right. There are some merchants protesting bitterly against us because we are cutting prices on everything. It is undeniably hard that these merchants should see their trade thus drawn away and profits dwindling day by day but they might as well try to keep back the ocean tide with a broom as to try to stop us from doing business. Hut for every one merchant so injured a thousand of consumers buy goods cheaper. The per cent of profit on which we do business would mean quick bankruptcy for most merchants but we carry everything and don’t depend on an exclusive line and therefore we can undersell ony and all competition. We repeat the Department Store is economically right and must

here are French ones, such as will 1h> seen at Aix les Bains and at other noted watering places, and those who have not yet made up their suits would not go far amiss in follow ing them. In the first place, the skirts to the suits are shorter than usual, and the trousers are made quite narrow, and they invariably reach below the knees. The material varies with the taste of the wearer. There are a good many serges, white, red and blue, as they hang excellently and shed water easily. Flannel, with its ponderous weight, is relegated entirely to the "renting out’’ costumes. Blue, red and black iMiugee are found very good, light and pretty for bathiug suits. Silk warp henrietta and fayetta, which is also half silk, make perhaps the most satisfactory costumes. Fayetta sheds the water like f^.^ 1 a duck’s hack as soon as one is out of it, and it does not hang in flabby, dragging
folds.
