Duluth, May 20.—The county jail was the scene of a sensation when Miss Dora Vahning, a society young lady, who was visiting the institution with a party of friends, recognized her betrothed, C. M. King, recently arrested on a charge of burglary and now awaiting the action of the grand jury. Miss Vahning took her position Indore King’s cell and demanded that he approach. As lie came up she gave him a lecture that dazed those who heard it and ended by drawing off the rings the prisoner had given her and throwing them at his feet. King allowed the jewels toremain on the floor aud slowly wrote an order allowing the sheriff to turn his letters over to Miss Vuhning. After she hail gone King broke down and bitterly bewailed his fate aud threatened to hang himself.

Boggs of Lake View has issued many writs of restitution in the course of his judicial career, hut never before did he experience the practical operation of one of them. The justice lives at 869 Larrabeo street. P. A. Julian owns the property, and a dispute arose over the rent alleged to be due. Mr. Julian secured a writ of restitution and Constable McCarthy of Justice Prindiville’s court moved Justice Boggs’ furniture out of his fiat to the sidewalk. The two men had trouble over a woman and Harris meeting Bengle on the street pulled a revolver and opened lire. After the shooting Harris gave himself up. Harris is 37 years old and Ins father-in-law, John Billerbeek, is one of the wealthiest men in Freeport. Harris is an old time professional hall player and played in the Pittsburg league team for some time. Bengle was employed in a factory here. Both are married men.
