The telephone company today began the distribution of the poles to carry their wires. The first line will be strung from Washington street corner up Vine street to the south, thence east on Walnut to Arlington. This route is taken to avoid the many shade trees of Washington street. The line will go south on Arlington to the south part of the city and return probably up Locust street or College avenue. A force of five men from Indianapolis arrived yesterday, and the work will be pushed rapidly. The superintendent in charge of the work states he will put in several thousand feet of cable in order to overcome the shndw tree difficulty.
