If reports concerning that society in Indianapolis, which is run a la Oscar Wilde, are true, we need another Hood.

The amount of hustle the average up to date girl possesses these days is determined by the number of shirt waists she possesses. The more waists the more hustle, and the more that are home-made signifies the wearer' to be indeed a hustler.

The appointment by Judge McGregor of Mr. George E. Blake of this city, as a member ot the county hoard of review, was an act that will meet the hearty approval of our citizens. Mr. Blake is especially well fitted for the position and will give it the attention that it deserves. That he is a republican shows that Judge McGregor did not pander to party clamor in chosing his men, a very commendable and liberal act, as he appointed one republican and one democrat.

In another column of this paper appears a communication criticising Prophet Hicks' weather predictions, and suggesting that it is time that newspapers cease publishing such nonsense. These predictions furnish considerable

the Greencastle Water Works com pany? The company has an ordinance very advantageous to them in many respects, hut the concensus of popular opinion is thnt they can no more say what hours a customer may use tlie sprinkling service for which lie rightfully pays, than they may designate at what hour a man may take a drink from

his house hydrant.

The hours set above are not convenient for every one. Business men who get to work at seven o’clock in the morning will want to begin their lawn sprinkling before six o’clock for the reason that they would lie unable to get more than a half hour sevice before they would he compelled to quit and leave for their stores. The same argument holds good from five to seven o’clock in the evening. The greater part of the lawn sprinkling in the evening has heretofore been done after seven o’clock. The rule is unAmerican and unnatural, and is but another one of those annoyances by which monopolies try to

assert grinding power.

The citizens of Greencastle should not sit down meekly and permit this rule to be enforced. The section in the contract between the company and the city provides that a patron of the water system may sprinkle with an one-eighth inch nozzle four hours per day. When a man pays his rental he

A search xvas immediately begun for the guilty parties, and McGuflin | was arrested. James I’ierce was also arrested and slated as drunk.
