Bryan went to In lianupolis this afternoon to attend the twentieth anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Clark, former parishioners of Rev. Bryan. A bridge on the Motion this side of Gosport was burned last night. The passenger trains were run from Crawfordsville to Indianapolis, thence to Gosport over the I. & V., then again to the Motion tracks. The bridge was across a small creek and was about ninety feet long. Mrs. Henrietta Tyler, a former resident of tins county, died at Irvington on April 11. Mrs. Tyler was born Oct. 15,1S24, and came to Indiana in 1844. She was married Sept. 9, 1841, her maiden name being Henrietta Gorman. She was a member of the M. E. church, and resided in ITitnam county for tifty years. Louis A. Kiefer, a young man in Indianapolis, set a trap for seme burglars. It was a shot gun to which was attached a string. Kiefer pulled the thing oft' accidentally and he caught the load. It struck a tobacco box in his pocket and his life was saved. The injured man is a cousin of Charles Kiefer here. John White and John Thomas White were bagged yesterday on the celebrated strip m South Greencastle on grand jury warrants. They are charged with stealing several Hocks of chickens, skinning knives, hogs, forty-eight pounds of beef, more chickens, etc. They have retained Messrs. James and Case to idiot their bark through the stormy seas of Putnam justice. The Lut/.-Ratlitl'factions had merry war yesterday in north Greencastle and nearly all the macadam was thrown oft' north Indiana street by the beligerants. Marshal Starr was called and be visited the scene of the rock-throwing contest. He went down to the north depot looking for Lutz but Henry hud been given a tip and had taken the Big Four west. He was on foot, however, amt the last Marshal St ttr saw of him he was turning the curve to the west with coat tails and whiskers a ftappiu’ in the still' spring breeze. If Mr. Lutz made a Ilyin’ switch anywhere between here and Oakalla he will please report. Lawrence Rockhill vs the C. C. C. A St. L. Railway company is the title of a damage suit tiled in the circuit court by S. A. Hays, attorney for plaintili'. The complaint states that the plain til' was standing on the station platform at Fern that a freight train passed at a rapid rate of speed and that one of the cars was loaded with lumber, a piece of which extended from the side of the car over the platform for a distance of over six feet. The lumber struck the plaintil)' on the head, causing him great pain and permanent!) injuring hL healing and eyesight, Ids head and face being badly scarred and disligured. lie asks therefor .fJ<K)() damages.
