lation to the finances. He will, a« usual, direct the educational policy, and both in the university and abroad, stand in this relation as heretofore. The chancellor, if he should accept, will be put in charge of the financial affairs of the university, will take the field for the purpose of raising money, both for endowment and current expenses, and give his entire time and energy to t he business interests of the university. He will be the head of the business affairs, as the president will be the head of the educational affairs. The chancellor. like the president, will bp a member of the laculties and will be in close touch with the university body. It is believed that this combination will give a new impetus to the institution, and that the very best possible work can be done in both the educational and financial lines. It does not seem probable that anv material change will be made iu the faculty for next year or that any serious contraction will occur. The university is certainly to be congratulated on its outlook. No other matters of great importance were considered by the board. Another meeting will occur in May, at whicdi time it is hoped Dr. Sims may signify his formal acceptance In the mean time the pre- dent i'll appy that ho can be relieved of duties that have not been congenial to him and concentrate his force upon the work for which he has made his life long preparation.
