The Newport I/ooxier Stall was forty years old yesterday, anti put on a coat of war paint, fine printing and sixteen pages of fine reading matter in celebrating the event. It seems that several Hendricks county drug store? will yield up the <rhost, and walk a greased plunk. The new temperance laws are catching them, it is further said.

The Pedestrian Theatrical com pany, which started from St. Louis ten days ago on a wager to walk to New York, giving performances on the way, and arrive in New York *2f>00 ahead, reached Terre Haute yesterday dead broke and totally disheartened. They were slated for Greencastle this week, but the women of the company have thrown up their hands and are hunting kitchen work in the Prairie City. The men are after any' kind of a job they can get. It was a butnmy campaign at best, and deserved
failure.
The Divorce i>rante«l.
Brazil Time*.
The ease of Rosa Hirt vs. her husband, Alfred Hirt, of Greencastle. for divorce, on the grounds of neglect, was called in the circuit court here this morning, being ven ued from Putnam county. The nu t er had been settled by agreement before the trial, and the plaintiff was to have the custody of their two children, $5000 alimony and $750 attorneys’ fees. The defendant did not appear against the plaint ff, and the di voroe was granted. We are informed that a cheek covering the whole amount was given by the husband to his now- divorced wife before they left the court house. The case is a particularly sad one, as both parties are among Greencastle's most prosperous and highly respected citizens, Mr. Hirt being in business there. They formerly resided in Jackson township,
this county.
