On this line we wish to quote from the Kokomo Tribune. published at the home of Mr. Nicholson, which speaks of the league as follows: Such an organization to lie effectual would have lo throw iis vote ag.-iiu-t eamlidates who might decline to subserilie to its -peeial creed, though the} ini>:lit In* strictly orthodox on all the pt'ineijdes of the party that nominated them. Men entirely independent ot party might very consistently take such a posit ion as this and require candidates for whom they w ill vote to come up to the double standard of the party nomi luting them and that of a non-partisan league, hut it is not quite clear how a tiyc, earnest, loyal party men can do s ). Men of this class have been in the habit of going in for reform within the lines of the party organization and loydly abiding the result. The best men in the republican party can easily have their way in shaping its course, making its platforms and nominating its candidates, in co-operating within the party organization, but it is extremely doubtful w hether they can be aided any in litis good work by the outside alleged non-partisan organization of a few good men from the republican, democratic, populist and prohibition parties. In fact, the men not of ihe republican party who would be willing to do anything to help it along in any way. cither to make a good platform or name t good ticket are few and far between. It is a play of Yankee type and from beginning to end had the close attention of the audience and from the frequent 'nterruption by loud and prolonged applause one would say the play carried the house by storm.
