>si Piuiikui'd, J. C. Lewis, the original ‘ Si Plunkard” in bis hay seed get up, gave a long to be remembered en lerluinment at the Grand opera house last night to a crowded house and the best of the season. The performance was well put on, and the Hutch comedian brought down the house every time he opened his mouth. Si t’lunkard, with his original sayings and farmeretic blunders, made the windows rattle with laughter. The plav is well written and deserves full patronage wherever it is given. Mrs. Lewis, in the character of the country maiden, brought forth much comment as a stage beauty, and her graceful acting. Si, we’ll not forI get you.—St. Paul Pioneer Press The above entertainment will be | given Thursday night iu the | Greencastle opera house.

At Hcst. Conway Sprluns (Kas.l star, March It). Mrs Karris, wife of I>r. K G. Fairis, of this city, died Tuesday, March 12. 1895, at 5 o’clock a. in., at the age of H years, 2 months and 24 days. Sarab i uuderaut was born Iteceu.bsr 18. 1850, in Putnam county, Indiana; united with the Cbristiat. church at age of 18 years; was married to Dr. E. (4. While it was generally known that Mrs. Farris was not in the best of health since she partially recovered from a long and severe illness about a year ago, her death was a sudden shock to all and cast a gloom of sorrow over the entire community. Her last illness was of short duration, she being sick with pneumonia but four days before her death.
Mrs. Farris was one of those queenly women of quiet and pleasant disposition. whose very presence commanded respect and admiration. Her whole nature was decidedly domestic and her home was to her, of all places, the near est and dearest. Devotion and attention to those she loved, in her home, was the great and noble work of her life. Not being permitted to shower upon children of her own the blessings and love of a mother, that grand and noble instinct within her nature went

The following query is turned over to those who wish to tackle it: Smith found a ten-dollar gold piece lying in the road; lie gave it to Brown to settle n meat bill; Brown gave it to Jones to settle a grocery account; Jones turned it over to Baker in payment of a balance on lumber; Baker returned it to Smith in the settlement of a note; Smith took it to the bank to deposit it, when the cashier threw it out as counteifeit. the money kings, having for its object the renomination of Mr. Cleveland on a struiglitoiit gold platform. It was because of this talk that the HlundBryan silver manifesto was D-ued a few days before congress adjourned* r i hat manifesto was intended to make the scheme to renominate Mr. Cleveland on a gold platform impossible, but it had a directly contraiy effect. It got so few signatures that it greatly encouraged the managers of the Cleveland scheme to believe that they would have I little trouble in controlling the demo- ; eratic nominating con \ ention. Another thing that lias encouraged them is the ilat failure of the American Bi-Metallic, | or, as it is more commonly known, the ' Sibley Silver party, which lias received few words of encouragement from any source -that resolution of the Nevada legislature counts for very little when it is remembered that Senators Jones and Stewart are the principal sponsors for what they fondly hoped at one time would be a new national party. It is believed that Secretary Carlisle’s principal reason for going to New York was
