The Terre Haute Express arrived today in a bright new dress, eight pages in size, machine set. The Express has shown for some time that such an improvement was necessary, and its mechanical change is highly complimentary to its. managers.
Tomorrow the Cincinnati Com-mercial-Gazette will run a special newspaper train from Cincinnati to Indianapolis, arriying at the latter place at 0:30 a. m. This will put the Cincinnati papers in this city at the same hour that the Indianapolis papers arrive—at 8:42.
ThoM’ Vfimlalia Killed. Terre Haute Exprcso. A new code of rules is being introduced on the Vandalia. The books are all numbered and one issued to each employe of the road, for which he is to receipt. If he leaves the employ of the road the book of tulbii must be tuibcd in. Every conceivable point relative to the running of trains and yard service is touched upen. Almost the same rules have been in vogue on the Pennsylvania for several years. The revised edition is a result of the meetings of superintendents of several roads, by which they have been adopted. One reason for the adoption of the standard rufes is that when an employe leaves one road and secures a position on another he will at once be familiar with the rules and regulations. Some of the old Vandalia men are much worried over one or two sections in the new rules.

I. S. Wade, grand chief templar of Independent Order of Good[ Templars of Indiana, has organized lodges at Fontanel, Coal lilutf, Caseyville and Carbon within the past month. Mr. Wade visited Greencastle today, and stated he would at some future time endeavoi i to organize a lodge here. There used tobe a flourishing lodge of
Templais in this city.
Jasper Henry gave his school mates of the seventh and eighth grades of the first war I a delight-1 fid treat yesterday afternoon and one that they will not soon forget. The scholars received permission for a half day’s vacation and at | 1:30 o’clock they left lor Mr. 1).
Spring Medicine
At this season, more emphatically than at any other, we should build for the future. When Nature gives vitality to field and w r ood, there should be the harmony of renewed life and energy in our physical systems. But, on the contrary, we find ourselves weak, dull, tired. This is because in the winter we have been hous.’d-up in poorly ventilated offices, homes and shops, our blood has become thin and impure, and is unequal to the demand of the body for more life, more vigor, more energy, more strength. Nature imperatively cries for help! Where is it to be found? Logically enough, in a good Spring Medicine, like Hood's Sarsaparilla, the great blood purifier. This preparation has proven in many years of test that it supplies the demand as nothing else can
So easy to take and so readily assimilated, the purifying, vitalizing and enriching elements of Hood’s Sarsaparilla—combined from nature’s own storehouse of vegetable remedies for human ills, pass into the stomach and are then silently but certainly taken up by the blood and sent to every organ and tissue of the body. The effect is often magical. The weakness is soon driven off, that tired feeling disappears, the nerves are built up, the stomach resumes its tasks even greedily, the appetite becomes as “sharp as a whetstone,” and the whole man feel “ as made anew.” The wonderful cures of Scrofula, Salt Rheum, and other dreadful diseases prove the great curative, blood purifying powers of Hood’s Sarsaparilla. You undoubtedly need a good Spring Medicine. Take Hood's Sarsaparilla, the great blood purifier.
L. Henry’s sugar camp four miles north of the city. The afternoon was a joyous one, tomping among the trees, drinking syrup, and last
but not least a basketful of maple sugar which Mr. Henry had thought fully prepared for the occasion. The afternoon passed all too quick ly for the children and they reluct antly departed with an invitation to come again next season which
they will certainly accept. There is considerable of a de
maud from Greencastle patrons of the Vandalia for a later local train from Indianapolis in the afternoon. Especially in the summer time is it •luimed that such an arrangement would he much more satisfactory. If the local train should be changed and timed to leave Indianapolis at! five o’clock instead of four the pa \ Irons here would he better satisfied j as they argue that they haven’t enough time in Indianapolis for a

day’s business by having to leave at four. The Big Four train arming here at 6:15 is breaking in to the local trade for the reason that it leaves Indianapolis about five o’clock. Misses Alice and Belle Resor entertained twenty of their young lady and gentleman fi lends last evening at their home, 616 east Washington street. The even ing was pleasantly spent in social intercourse and interesting new and novel games. After the social features toothsome and dainty refreshments were served. At twelve o’clock the party dispersed, having been delightfully entertained by the Misses Resor. Those present were Miss Blanche Kercheval of Roekport, Misses Ida Orrell, Kate, Bessie and Lida Grooms, Elizabeth Overstreet, Blanche Basye, Nellie Hammond, Mollie Mathers and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Smith; Messrs. Allan Brockway, Harry and Frank Hays, A. B. Hanna, Will Harris, E. E. Black, C. B. Case and Clias.

The statements in the testimonial below We familiar facts to the immediate friends of Mr. Geo. A. Zirkle, school teacher, of Mt. Horeb, Tenn., very well known throut'hout the county, where he was horn and has always lived. It illustrates the wonderful power of Hood’s Sarsapaiilla overall diseases of the blood. Read it: “ I believe in Hood’s Sarsaparilla. I will tell you why. I have suffered from inherited scrofula from childhood. When 37
years of af»e my eyes became Strangely Affected.
I could not read after sunset, and when I would close my eyes I could not open them; hut on whichever side I lay on that side I could open my eye. This condition continued about two years, and was succeeded by an intolerable itching all over my body and limbs I had to have my little boys take shoe brushes and scratch me. It was dreadful. It continued a month and was followed immediately by a tumor in the right side of my neck as large as a small egg. I took physicians’ prescriptions till I lost hope. In the meantime the turner changed its place to the immediate front of my neck, suppurated
had
and was followed by others, till six
formed and broken.
“ Finally, three years ago, another large tumor seated itself on the point of my collar bone and in six months another half way hack on the bone Roth of them soon began to discharge and continued to do so till about seven months ago. I tried everything, including prescriptions. I was often so weak that I could scarcely walk and my mind was so confused that I could scarcely attend to my business (school teaching). I was utterly discouraged. And now my story draws to a close. I began the use of Hood’s Sarsaparilla a little less than a year ago, and took live bottles. When I began I had no faith in it. In less than 3 months
Both the Sores
on my shoulder were healed; I was cored
of a troublesome catarrh; and scrofulous habit has steadily grown It is apparent. I weigh more than I ever did in my life and am in the best of health considering my constitution. Do you wonder that l believe in Hood’s Sarsaparilla T I can do no less than recommend it everywhere.” Geo. A. Zibkle, Mt. Horeb, Tenn.
“We have used Hood’s Sarsaparilla for 1 our little boy, who had a running sore on one of his limbs. He had suffered from it for one and a half years He took seven bottles of Hood’s Sarsaparilla and the sore is all healed and he is now well. Hood’s Sarsaparilla cleansed his blood and I cured him.” E B. Johnson, Bridge- | water, Iowa. Scrofula Eradicated. “ I am a great sufferer with blood trouble. I have taken several bottles of Hood’s Sarsaparilla and find it the best medicine I ever saw for scrofula humors and blood poison. It strengthens the system and drives away that tired feeling. No one knows (he good Hoed Sarsaparilla will do until it hns been faithfully 1 ried.” Lauka M. Lawton, Sprngueville, New York. Soros On Neck and Arms. “ Last spring I had sores come on my neck and arms, owing to had blood and a run down system. My physician told me to get Hood’s Sarsaparilla and take it to purify my blood. After taking three bottles I was cured. It is an excellent spring medicine.” Mrs. Anna Ditzlee, New Danville, Pennsylvania.

“Si Plunkard,” a Yankee com edy illustrating farm life, at English’s last night, had a large audience. J. C. Lewis plays the particular role, and scores a great point witli his wonderful whistling, which :e simply marvellous. He was not at his best last night, as he was not at all well. Sam C. Young as Felix Smart made a capital Dutchman, and the audience insisted upon frequent repetition of his songs and dances. Another good character was Mr. Price’s Moses, a Jewish money lender. All of the peculiarities were strongly ! and comically deiineated. Mr. W. IC. West an Robert Denny plays the black sheep of the flock and made a very satisfactory all around rascal. He rendered the famous cuckoo song of Joe Emmet’s in excellent style. Miss Rice made a i talkative old maid, and Miss Jeu
