If the news from Fall River is correct Mgr. Satolli, the papal able gate, has temporarily suspended the edict of the pope commanding all Catholics to withdraw from the order of the Knights of Pythias, and will in a few days issue his j formal degree to that effect. This is surprising news. Here-

time of St. Peter—allowing that

chair—has been absolute. And being infallible, there is no rerson

Pope may he reversed. Mgr. Satolli does not, it is true, promise that his decree will stand, but find ing no conflict between the principles of the Knights of Pythias and Catholic doctrines, he does not see what it should not stand, and he hopes it will. If his holiness has

“Si Plunkard is a graphic and amusing picture of rural lile and characterization. Mr. Lewis in the title role of the Yankee peddler and tlium major in the Fairview band, brings plenty of humor to this part and creates a deal of amusement. The inventor, the bigus stock speculator, tire old farmer and Si's pretty sweetheart are all well sustained characters. There is a deal that is novel in the play. The farm scene with its

Satolli that he look carefully into the above named orders and prevail upon the pope, if possible, to withdraw his objection to his church people affiliating with them. There are now a great many good Catho lies who belong to these organizations, and it would do the church no harm if the number were multi-
