All cordially invited. John S. Dowling has brought suit in the circuit court for divorce from his wife, Ida Dowling, the papers being filed by S. A. Hays, attorney for the plaintitF. The main charge is one of cruel treatment, and the plaintiff asks the custody of the three children. The case was erroneously announced in Terre Haute and Indianapolis papers several days ago, as the papers did not go on file until today. The suit of Eleanor DeBolt vs. the Citizens’ Street Railway company, of Indianapolis, which was on trial for two days in the circuit court went to the jury at 1:30 o’clock yesterday afternoon. At 3:30 the jury returned a verdict in favor of the plaintitf for $8500. The case lias attracted considera able attention and was stubbornly fought. The plaintiff asked for $20,000 for an injury alleged to have been given her by the defendant company at a turn table in Indianapolis. Last night between eleven and twelve o’clock a burglar kicked in one of the large back windows of Bicknell’s hardware store on the east side of the square and walked into the room. A light was burn ing in the room, persons were passing on the streets, and the night watchman was but a few minutes behind the fellow, but he did his work well and got away. The fellow took seven revolvers, three lioxcs of line knives, some wrenches and other small things. Frank Riley came along shortly after wards and noticed the break, and at once gave the alarm, calling Mr. Bicknell. There was no clue to the robber or robbers, and they made a successful haul. It was n “nervy” act, and one that would fail nine times out of ten. It was probably the work of desperate tramps.

At eight o’clock this morning there was so much enthusiasm over at east college that it was thought expedient to lay recitations aside and return to Meharry hall for a jollification meeting. A very enthusiastic meeting was held. The college yell was heard from every quarter, speeches were made by the contestants, members of the faculty. Brooks of I. I'., Prof. Dotey and students. After returning from the hall into the corridor of the college difficulties arose between the freshman and sophomore classes. They retired from the corridor to the campus, and the bone of contention was the possession of the Columbian boulder. The Sophomores obtained possession of it and retained it. Look for more trouble. After the debate last night an informal reception was given the I. I', students at ladies’ hall. Music was furnished by Walker Bros, and drum corps. Refreshments were served. There was a promenade, and explorations extended even to the third floor. Everybody enjoyed themselves, and reImiH«» Mt'"’ *** tirsxrl rnw* rDulrw*!.*
