Deputy Revenue Collector Bryant, of Frankfort, is here today scattering blanks for the collection of the new democratic income tax of .|4000 as imposed by the last eingress. Mr. Bryant had discovered no men in Greencastle enjoying a $4000 income up to noon but he is distributing his blanks preparatory to ferreting them out. While Mrs. J. F. Coffman, of Maple Grove, was walking on a railroad near her home Monday, she slipped and tell, striking her head against a rail, and causing concussion of the brain. She remained in an unconscious condition for nearly twenty-four hours, but is now improving. Dr. E. Hawkins was called to see her this
morning.
Miss Florence Buskirk has returned from a two weeks' visit with relathes at Louisville. Mrs. Buskirk will leave tomorrow for Indianapolis to enter upon her duties in the United States pension office. She lies been given an agreeable clerkship by reason of the kindness of Senator Voorheer, and will have a permanent position. It is stated that the salary is $1000 per year.—

Mrs. Dr. Case and Miss Josephine Donnohue entertained members of the Woman’s Christian Temperance union at the home of the former on south College Avenue yesterday afternoon from two | to five. A most delightful time is reported. Miss Sheridan gave an j

Some of the guests today have paralysis of the optic nerve, caused by indulging in the exciting game of “wink,” while some of the gentlemen who put on a glittering cake walk haven't the kinks out of their bodies yet. Luncheon was served at ten o’clock, the guests being seated at tables, 6n chairs, and some tak ing the oriental fashion of sitting on the floor, one of the visitors becoming so “attached” to this method that lie attempted to carry off his rug. At eleven o’clock the guests departed, having spent a delightful evening with Mr. Arnold and his charming family, all wishing their host another fifty years of
life and prosperity.
