A Slip between tin* Cup and flu* Lip. A few weeks ago a young nian bought a pair of socks containing a note saying the writer was an employee of the Kenosha, Wisconsin, knitting works, and wanted a good husband. Site gave her name and requested the buyer, if an un married man, to write with a view to matrimony. The young man who found the note consideied the matter in all its phases and then decoded to write to the girl. He did. Awaiting the answer with considerable anxiety, he was at last rewarded with a curt letter stating that the girl was now the mother of two children and had been married four years, and the letter he answered had been written ever so long ago. It was a “sock” dolager, and the young man hunted tor a solution. He found it. The merchant ot whom he bought the socks doesn't advertise.— Exchange. Revival Services at College Avenue The day was bright and beauti ful. Each service was attractive and well attended. As previously announced President John filled the pulpit in the morning. The students of the university formed an important part of the large ami appreciative audience. The Doctor's theme was the perpetuity of Christ’s Kingdom; the text was taken from his scripture lesson, Daniel vii Et-14. The argument was based on the fitness of the Christian religion for man, and of man for the Christian religion. The ancient religion of the Egyptians, Zoroastrianism, Brahmanism, Confucianism, etc., were partially adapted to a particular nation, but none of them were universally adapted to mankind. Christianity answers the two great questions, what is God? what is man? The race will never accept materialism, agnosticism or any other cold system. Christianity

The disappearance of Edward Hire is causing concern to members of A. F. G. W. U. No. 25. and lost what wages he made. Anxious to recover this he invested the money collected from his f'el-ow-workmen for the union. This went too. In a short time Edward had lost about all the money he could get hold of, and then a terri hie situation stared him in the face. He decided to unfold the situation and facts to a friend, which he did. His counsellor told him to go right ahead at work, make the money back and pay it in as fast as possible. The facts concerning his conduct soon became general gossip among the members of the lodge. A majority were willing to t,uke him by the hand and assist him by permitting him to continue at his work so he could replace the money. Edward agreed to do this and the matter was believed to he on a fair roaa to adjustment when sud denlv it was learned that he was gone. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Smith Hice, who are very estimable

Ji i ia Maklowe Tabok has sued the Indianapolis Journal for libel on account of a severe criticism. When an actor or an actress has to sue well-known newepapeis because the same have the temerity to criti cisc stage acting, there is surely something wrong with the acting. There is entirely too much rocky support and not a few poor stars on
the stage today.
