A fair average was twenty below which is cold enough for all ordinary purposes. Several grocers have lost heavily this cold spell, having had their potatoes, turnips and other stocks well nigh ruined by the frost. The oldest inhabitant hasn’t much of a cinch on the younger fellows now as this spell is hard to beat even in his tory. It is hoped that last night’s straw was the one that broke the backbone of the cold and that a warm w'ave will soon relieve us.

Los Angeles will entertain the Citrus state fair in February. Then will he shown the capacity of California in that line, embracing fruits of all kinds, nuts of every variety, flowers beyond description, and all other things possible. I hope to see it, having attended the same fair at Riverside seven
years ago.
Since I wrote last I have had a de lightlnl visit to Sail Diego. It is a charming old place, now tilled with tourists from ali parts of the world— some to spend a few weeks or months, some to remain as citizens.
