The Gentlemen’s Literary club met last Monday evening with Prof. Waldo. The attendance was smaller than usual on account of the revival services, but an interesting meeting was had by those pr sent. A paper on the Evolution of Sex was presented by Dr. Underwood, and was a thorough and interesting treatise of the subject. As a natural consequence, the paper brought forth a heated argument on evolution, in which all present took part. The “Over the Teacups” club met yesterday afternoon for the first time since its organization at the residence of Mrs. G. C. Sruythe on south V'ne street. The meeting was opened by a beautiful piano solo by Miss Flora Mathias. They Were All Mistaken.

William T. Hibbs, of Marion township, was a caller at the Banner Times office yesterday with a good cause of complaint. He says he is the only William Hibbs in Putnam county, and he wants the impression that William Hibbs is a meat thief cleared up. It seems that the Hibbs who is in jail for stealing Hammond’s pork is James Hibbs, and was never anybody but James. By some mistake the name got on the affidavit as William, the court ruled on it as William, the defendant answered to it ns William and he was committed as William, and by this time the name was rather familiar, and the news papers, of course, got it as William, some of them Bill.
