If the democrats will heed the good advice of Sherman and Allison they will make the Rest of their rapitllv declining opportunities. The country is taking a grout deal of satisfaction in the fact that there are hut five weeks more of democratic congress. It is the last of such a deal that the public of the I'tiited States want. If Cleveland could go out with the rest of them, this country would again go
on the up grade.

Mr. Donnohue rapidly and steadily overpowered his man. and Mr. Starr's opportune arrival with his revolver aided in quieting the warlike Hibbs, who was marched to jail. James Green, the other fellow wanted, was arrested at a north side saloon later in the day. The officers have a dead sure case against the men. They found a tub of fresh pork in Hibbs’ house, which hail been stolen from Will Hammond’s place east of tbe city. Tbe fellows bad first visited Wm. McMains’ place, this side of Ham mond’s, on the same night, Tuesday but were frightened away by a watch-dog. On Sunday night, it is alleged that Hibbs and Green began at Charles Reeves’ house, an<l picked up chickens and geese all the waj’ to Roachdale, and that they had one of R. W. Allen’s coops, and sold their stuff there to Oscar Jones, receiving a cheek on the Roachdale bank, which was accepted by Cashier Edwards. Green had a revolver when arrested, and Hibbs has done time in the pen. They ate a bad crowd. They were arraigned in mayor’s court this morning, and plead not guilty. They were defended by C. B. Case and 0. T. Peck. They were charged with stealing five hams, three shoulders and three sides of meat. In the testimony given it was shown that Hibbs confessed, and said that Green was the bad man of tiie crowd, lending Hibbs into it. It is further said that Green was wanted at Stinesville. The men were bound over to circuit court in sum of $500 each.
