The committee appointed to select a minister for Trinity church to till the pulpit when Dr. King leaves, have not settled on any one in particular, hut have several min isters in view. There has been a rumor afloat that Uev. W. If. W ise would he asked to take the pulpit but it is not substantiated. Rev. H. A. Gubin, of DcPaitw university, formerly one of Trinity’s most pop ular preachers, is willing to take the church, it is understood, and some of the official board favor him.

That is tlie free ship lull, which started out with such a rush. Representative Fithian, of Illinois, author of the measure. recognizing the impossibility of passing tlie liil) iu its original shape, is now trying to get pledges for a bill granting free entry to foreign built ships only on condition that those who bring them in shall construct vessels of the same tonnage in the United States. In addition to the large number of American lawyers and financiers in Washington for the purpose of trying to have a say in the proposed legislation dealing with the Pacific railromls, Sir Cfairies Wilson, an Knglish financier, has arrived to look out for the English money invested in those roads.
