There is not a single argument of any moment in favor of this obnoxious statute. Every W. C. T. U. should petition the legislators. Where no such an organization exists the leading men and women should start a petition. This was done in Tennessee, and the age of consent was raised from i fourteen to sixteen years. We must raise it to eighteen. This cannot he done without a great effort on the part of social reformers.
